Shoshana Zuboff's article "Creating value in the age of distributed capitalism" gives a good overview of the transition from the industrial age to today's information age. She provides a great case example in the nursing home industry, Elder Power. The traditional nursing home business is high cost and provides variable care to many patients. Elder Power is innovating a new business model, which includes web technology, a volunteer social network, collaboration amongst local service providers, and leveraging unused local resources (spare bedrooms, school cafeteria, etc.). A great example of agile strategy in practice.
